Fox Creek Duet Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot

This wine has become extremely popular in restaurants as it is so approachable when young. The aroma is of blackcurrant, mulberry and savoury chocolate. The rich berry flavours develop to a luscious intensity on the middle palate. The wine finishes with soft tannins and balanced acidity.
Appearance
Deep purple/red.
Bouquet
Fresh herbaceous lift leads to aromas of red berries, juicy plums, blackcurrant, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Palate
A soft juicy array of fleshy plum, red cherries and blackcurrants with hints of cardamom and spice. The rich fruity mid palate is balanced with soft textural tannins that give the wine great length. A rich, soft and complex wine that is great with food.
Winemaking
The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%) is a fine example of the synergy that can be achieved when blending individual varietals. The complimentary effects of the fruit laden Merlot with the Cabernet tannins balances the wine and gives it structure and finesse. Harvest was in March 2010. The Cabernet components were barrel fermented in two and three year old American and French oak. The Merlot was barrel fermented in two year old French oak. The wine was matured over a 19 month period.

Ageing potential
This wine can be enjoyed on release and will develop complexity with cellaring for up to 5-7 years.
