THE ENDURING LANDSCAPE BY JENNI MUMFORD
29 Jan 2013 - 04 Mar 2013OPENING NIGHT : February 9, 2013 5.30 - 7.30pm
A creative established artist working in oils whose paintings seek to engage the viewer in exploring the mystery and synchronicity of light in the Australian landscape.
Jenni Mumford’s contemporary works are inspired by the famous Fleurieu Peninsula and seek to ‘bring to the canvas’ a new perception of painted sculptural genius.
The outer atmospheric layer as we perceive it today is peeled back to reveal an embryonic state of the earth. The often harsh yet softened and unique light of the Fleurieu and Australian coast and hinterland is a powerful elemental factor as the artist attempts to capture the effects of the sombre yet vibrant appeal of light on the land incorporating a fusion of colour and brushstrokes to create the form.
Jenni Mumford is a gifted talent having been a finalist in the Fleurieu Art Prize 8 times, the Heysen Prize and Nora Heysen Centenary Prize; inaugural winner McLaren Vale Harvest Prize and invited to the prestigious Mall Galleries UK for the Australian in London Exhibition.
You are invited to experience the energy of this rare exhibition as it takes us on a journey to provoke the consciousness of the inner soul.
